What do you think? 😊💕 I'm ridiculously excited to debut the artwork for my first fabric collection, Urban Sketchbook. I've been working on this 10 print collection for over a year - so to make it to the point where I can share it with you feels really special. In my youth, I was always sketching and painting - so to reach into my wheelhouse and brush off those long dormant skills and combine them with digital design work - has been a blast. The collection is inspired by my home of New York City. It includes flowers, buildings, pretzels, food trucks, taxi cabs and so much more - with the elements inspired from another of my creative loves - my photography. I tried to have some fun with the color - choosing bright pops to pair with the black and white sketches. There's 2 more prints (taxis and classic coffee cups) that I didn't have space to include in the post but I'll make sure to add them to my stories. 🕺 I can't wait to see what you guys think and even more excited to see what you'll make 💕 If you swipe to the end, you'll find Keaton Quilts CEO, Buster Keaton, posing over a quilt I recently longarmed. The version pictured is made from white linen and calico prints from @joann_stores. I really love how the colors reverberate from the large stars into the tiny ones in the sashing. They were originally tiny rainbows but at the last minute I changed them to reflect the colors of the blocks surrounding them. In more happy news, we also finally have our first in-person classes back on the schedule!! I cannot wait to see everyone - it's been way too long. Anyone recognize the, "I just finished a quilt top!" look on my face? 😊 It really is a feeling of pure joy 🕺🏼 Online classes are coming soon to make this quilt top from @creativebug and @joann_stores. I had such a blast filming them in San Francisco this summer and cannot wait for them to be released in September. Lots more details and a full quilt top reveal are on the way. 🤸🏼‍♂️ I'm also in the process of searching for a pup and kitty. If you have any advice on finding a pup (with hair and not fur since I'm allergic) please, please, please, share. I would love to adopt again but might be open to finding one through a responsible breeder. My ideal would be a golden doodle but I'm super open - I don't think I've ever seen a pet that I haven't fallen in love with. Unfortunately, Diane was kept by the other party in the ending of a relationship. I will always love her more than anything in the whole world. It's been part of why I had been quiet on social media since last year. I've suffered a lot of loss in my life - from being raised apart from my sister and Dad, moving around a lot as a kid - losing my friends each time I switched schools and also ending up in foster care as a teen. Over the years, I've come to understand that people and things come and go in your life and it's ok. It's been especially hard to accept the loss of Diane but I do know she's well taken care of - with booties on her paws when shes walked and organic boiled chicken at dinner. Our time together may have come to an end but it's ok and I think enough time has passed where I'm ready share my love with a new furry companion or two. I'm crying as I type this but I'm so excited for what's to come. I've got a new apartment and am setting up my sewing space - so expect me to pop in and say hi on stories and lives very soon - as these classes that I'm ridiculously proud of get closer to release along with my journey to finding new 🐈 & 🐕 co-CEO's for Keaton Quilts next chapter.
